Infectious diseases remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in developing regions where environmental and healthcare-related factors facilitate disease transmission. Microbiology plays a fundamental role in identifying infectious agents, understanding pathogenic mechanisms, and guiding effective therapeutic strategies. This review addresses key viral, bacterial, and fungal infections of clinical importance, with emphasis on hepatitis E virus infection, Candida albicans, postoperative bacterial infections, Streptococcus pyogenes, foodborne diseases, and antimicrobial resistance. Integrating regional research findings with international evidence highlights ongoing challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and infection control and underscores the need for strengthened surveillance and antimicrobial stewardship.
